{shop around town} // broome street general store.
Who doesn’t love a good general store? Now that I’ve been making regular pilgrimages to the eastside, I finally had a chance to check out Broome Street General Store for myself. For the curious-minded, this little shop in Silverlake is the perfect place to pick up some interesting lifestyle wares. I love their selection of foodstuff, housewares, craft items, tees, and trinkets. I...

{good eats} // hooker's sweet treats.
I read about Hooker’s Sweet Treats on 7x7 ages ago so I wanted to visit their brick and mortar store while we were in SF now that they’ve opened up shop in the Tenderloin neighborhood.
We arrived right after 2pm {which is when they close on Saturdays} but I peaked my head through the door and they said to come on in. They were so sweet.
I bought both the classic dark chocolate...

You thought I was done writing about my trip? Of course there’s more! What would a recap be without mentioning the sublime food?
Eating in SF is always so much fun. I love the food scene…I don’t know how they do it but SF restaurants somehow retain that neighborhood feel that I love so much. Even city favorites like Pizzeria Delfina, where there was a little bit of a wait at...

san francisco redux.
I’m signing off early this week because I’m taking a mini road trip up to San Francisco to visit some buddies and I have yet to pack. We went to Berkeley as undergrads so the Bay Area is such a special place for us. Oh, memories…
I’m sure we’ll find some time to hang out on campus and relive countless college days of bumming on Sproul Plaza but what I’m really...

outstanding in the field.
My friend K who lives in Salt Lake City tweeted about going to Outstanding in the Field, a mobile culinary experience that seeks to connect diners with local farms from which their food is grown. The small staff travels the country in a big bus and sources ingredients locally for each stop’s meal.
I don’t know what it is about eating outside but it makes everything more wonderful. I...

{good eats} // bar pintxo.
If you’re an Angeleno, then you’ve been exposed to the exhaustive coverage of Carmeggedon this weekend. If you’re not familiar, the catchphrase refers to closing a 10-mile stretch of the 405 for two days so that a segment of the Mulholland Bridge could be demolished.
To avoid the havoc, my friend L and I were biking around town in search of a low-key spot for dinner. L suggested...

culver city food field trip.
Seriously, this is what I do on the weekends. Eat. Explore. Repeat.
We hit downtown Culver City to walk around and learn a few tidbits about the neighborhood. We also fit five mini meals into four hours.
The Culver Hotel: Culver City’s original “skyscraper.” Local lore has it that the hotel is haunted…even mid-day on a Sunday, it was quiet and eerie.
One of the...

Cool kicks from LemLem. Slip them on, slip them off for summer…
However, at 340 bucks a pop, I can’t help but feel like they should come gilded in gold-leaf. When did looking casual become so expensive? It’s practically elitist!

I’m all about Ellie Goulding this week. If Sia and Regina Spektor met, had babies, and turned electro…you would have Ellie Goulding. I missed her at Coachella this year {her set was during Nas & Damian Marley} but I can’t wait to see her at the Wiltern next month.
Happy 4th of July weekend!
