{i heart anthro}: guide to giving with style for...
Anthro’s December lookbook is here. No surprise that the focus is on knicks and knacks for gifting this month. Felted soaps, numbered spice jars, or a Miss Madame butter dish? Quirky gifts for everyone on your list!

redesigning nabokov.
3-D book covers! Art Director-extraordinaire John Gall recently collaborated with a series of artists like Chip Kidd and Dave Eggers to redesign covers for 21 of Nabokov’s novels. Lolita wasn’t among them - I guess it’s pretty hard to one-up the iconic image of a young, saddle-shoed girl on a swing - but some of the new covers are pretty great.
Check out the whole series at the...

happy thanksgiving & lovely day.
I’m signing off early today to get some more last minute food shopping done. I’m cooking this year and determined to make a ton of food without setting off any fire alarms or burning myself. It’s gonna be a lovely day with the festivities - fitting for this illustration by Jim Datz.
Cheers to feasting and family, everyone!

simple {but awesome}.
Some great letterpress goods from simplesong designs. The red and white color palette make it perfect for the holidays but I’d use them all year long. It’s no surprise when I say my favorite is the library card {available in Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday versions} but the ‘I Heart Lists’ pad and ‘Happy Day to You’ pencils are lovely stocking stuffers for...

moomah!
This is so neat! My friend Tiff sent me a link to moomah, a NY craft cafe that doubles as a creative space. Their website has an artwork creator which you can use to make a your own collage with a fun selection of backgrounds, nostalgic images, and a colored pencil tool.

big martha's holiday workshop.
Love these holiday projects from Martha Stewart. Her website has launched a Christmas “workshop” loaded with fun stuff to make and decorate. Break out the craft kit!

happy weekend & india in technicolor.
I went to see Fantastic Mr. Fox last week {it was amazing, go see it} and I’ve been re-watching some of Wes Anderson’s other films. One of my favorites is The Darjeeling Limited, maybe because I’ve been wanting to visit India for forever. The movie is shot beautifully and all the colors captured are simply gorgeous. Since I haven’t been yet, these photos from Flickr will...

white for winter.
With the weather cooling down {last night was mighty nippy!}, I’m wishing I had a fireplace right about now. I’ve always loved white for a fireplace. There’s something really beautiful in an all white one - stark and so pure.

plans in my pocket.
Last week I blogged about my favorite desk planner but if you’re a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of gal, here are some cutie patootie planners from Dozi that fit right in your pocket.

the great cupcake debate // part 2.
Mmm, weekends are for cupcaking - and tada! - here is part 2 of my great cupcake debate. This second batch was mostly middle of the road so here’s hoping to make this experiment a 3-parter.
Crumbs, Beverly Hills & other locations - Eek. Crumbs is a NY-transplant so you’d think it would be tasty. Wrong. I had the Squiggle and Red Velvet but only made it through one bite of each....

redstone diary for oh-ten.
The holiday season has begun and I am in full holiday mode. I luuurve the holidays - decorating the house, baking 24/7, making a fire, and generally feeling cozy.
But that means saying goodbye to 2009 and ushering in the new year {I keep saying “oh-ten” out of habit}. I keep a calendar on my iPhone but I can’t resist this Redstone Diary. The editors select a non-sequitur theme...

inspired by...moca, mo' color.
MOCA is re-opening later this week with a new exhibition called “The First 30 Years.” Among many artists whose work will be featured, Rothko is one of the heavy-hitters that’ll be a big draw.
A few Rothko-inspired wares to get you in a colorblock state of mind…

{i heart anthro}: gidgets & gadgets.
I visit Anthropologie’s website more than I’d like to admit but it’s because the imagery is just so beautiful. I love the styling in their new Marvels & Wonders vignette. The play on dimensions is so fun - we’d all be so lucky to have a faucet that spewed silk and magic hands to air out our winter jackets.
Happy weekend!

dress up your books.
These are such a great update on those grocery bag book covers we used during school days. You know the ones - heavy paper bags from Ralphs or wherever - that Mom would cut up to cover your tattered U.S. History and Biology textbooks {that weighed a ton in my awesome Eddie Bauer backpack}.
I’m digging the one with the whale - a modern take on Jonah and the Whale, perhaps?

smells good in here...
I’ve been baking a lot lately. I’m kind of on a sweet kick.
I baked these delicious scones twice in the past week - they are so easy to make and taste great alone or with some Nutella. And they are made of wheat so your waistline will thank you. Dessert for breakfast = yum.
Try this recipe or if you’re short for time, just pick up a package of scone dough from the market like I...

{i heart anthro}: dreams of a cozy winter for...
I can’t believe it’s already November - time has swooshed by this year. And you know what that means - it’s the beginning of the holiday season. I absolutely love the holidays. As a Californian, I’m usually all about sun and surf but this time of year, I always miss the palpable shift in weather like they have on the east coast. I don’t care if the sun is still...

allen company vintage.
If you’re like me - love vintage but not the huge warehouses or endless piles to go through - then you should check out Allen Co. Vintage. They have a shop on Etsy here and their selection is small and nicely curated. Love their silk blouses and fun, classic dresses.
